9th Annual Gerry Pencer Golf Tournament

Our 9th Annual Tournament was another amazing success!

100 golfers arrived at the historic Scarboro Golf & Country Club for an incredible day and were greeted with Welcome Gifts courtesy of Gentec International. A gourmet BBQ lunch followed sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Before the carts set off for the shotgun start, David Stewart, General Manager, Cott Beverages, our presenting sponsor, and Mark Benadiba, a Director at Cott and long time friend of the Brain Trust and Pencer family, welcomed everyone and spoke briefly.

Studded throughout the spectacular 18 hole course were contests such as a $25,000 Hole-in-one, Make a Birdie, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Beat the Pro and Putting for Cash. Our golfers returned to the clubhouse and enjoyed cocktails and hors d’ouvres while jazz musicians played in the background.

Mark Benadiba awarded the evening’s Tournament prizes and introduced our emcee, Mike Bullard, who was not only a hilarious comedian but proved to be an excellent auctioneer for our Live Auction. The fabulous full course dinner, courtesy of OnBrand Designs, was enjoyed by all.

Our Silent Auction had a great selection of items and we’re happy to say, most of our golfers went home with either a prize or an auction item!

By the end of the evening we had raised over $50,000 in net proceeds which will allow Pencer Centre Doctors and Researchers to build on the recent breakthroughs in brain tumor treatment and in the meantime, continue providing a haven for patients and families—a place to get information, treatment and support following their diagnosis. Gerry would have been so pleased!
